Custom Portrait | Hand-Painted Oil Painting from Photo

Custom Portrait — Realoilart turns your photo into a hand-painted oil painting on real canvas, starting at $204. Choose a canvas size and frame, upload your reference photo on this page, then place your order. The studio reviews the photo before painting begins so unclear faces, pet details, backgrounds, or composition issues can be checked early.

Hand-painted, not printed: each portrait is painted in oil on canvas with visible brushwork and texture.
Best for meaningful photos: pet portraits, family portraits, couple portraits, wedding gifts, memorial art, anniversary gifts, and home portraits.
Sizes and frames: 12x16, 16x20, 20x24, 20x30, 30x24, and 24x36 inches, with rolled canvas, Frameless Stretch (canvas stretched over a hidden wooden inner frame without an outer decorative frame), plus black, white, wood, gold, and silver outer frame options.
Order support: reference review before painting, careful packing, tracked delivery where carrier service is available, and 30-day support for order issues.

How your custom oil painting order works

Choose your format. Select the canvas size and frame option that fits your room, gift plan, or memorial display.
Place the order. Upload your reference photo, add any artist notes, then complete checkout.
Studio review. We check photo clarity, faces, pets, background, color, and composition before the artist begins.
Hand painting. An artist paints the portrait in oil on canvas, not as a digital filter or machine print.
Packing and delivery. The finished painting is packed carefully and shipped with tracking where carrier service is available.

What photos work best?

The best reference photo is the clearest original image you have. Good light, visible eyes or facial details, and a natural expression help the artist preserve the feeling of the subject. Avoid screenshots, heavy filters, and compressed social-media images when possible. If the photo is old or low resolution, send it anyway and tell us which details matter most.

Common uses

Pet portraits: dogs, cats, and memorial paintings from a favorite photo.
Family portraits: parents, children, grandparents, couples, and wedding moments.
Gift paintings: anniversary, Christmas, Mother's Day, housewarming, and remembrance gifts.
Meaningful places: homes, travel memories, landscapes, and places with personal value.

FAQ

Is this a real oil painting or a print?

It is a real oil painting on canvas. The artwork is hand-painted by an artist and is not a poster, canvas print, AI filter, or machine-made image.

How do I send my photo?

Use the Reference photo field above before adding the painting to your cart. Add expression, color, background, names, dates, or other requests under Artist notes.

What if I am not sure the photo is good enough?

Send the clearest version you have. The studio reviews the reference before painting and will contact you if important details are unclear.

Which size should I choose?

12x16 inches works well for smaller gifts and close-up portraits. 16x20 and 20x24 inches suit most wall displays. 20x30 inches offers a taller portrait format for larger wall displays. 30x24 inches is a wider landscape option for group portraits or broad compositions. 24x36 inches is better for larger rooms, full-body subjects, group portraits, or statement pieces.

Can this be used as a memorial or anniversary gift?

Yes. Custom oil paintings are often ordered for pet memorials, family remembrance, wedding gifts, anniversaries, Mother's Day, Christmas, and other personal milestones.

Eligible items may be returned within 30 days after delivery, subject to our Refund Policy. Contact us before sending anything back. The artwork must be in its original condition and securely packaged; once approved, send it within 14 days to the return address provided by our support team.

Realoilart covers approved return shipping for our error, damage, or defect. For a change of mind or other customer preference, the customer is responsible for the approved return shipping cost.

Please contact us as soon as possible if your painting arrives damaged. We recommend sending your order number and clear photos of the artwork and packaging within 7 days of delivery to help preserve evidence for the carrier. This recommendation does not shorten the applicable 30-day return-request period or your statutory rights.

After receiving and inspecting an approved return, we notify you of the result. If approved, we process the refund to the original payment method within 3 business days. Your bank or card provider may require an additional 7–15 business days to post the credit.

Botanical abstraction · Expressionism · Layered color

The result is an expressive practice that feels both organic and deliberately composed.
